WINGS’ Enabling Environment Fund for Philanthropy: An Experience of Participatory Grantmaking to Expand the Philanthropy Space’ report
In 2021, we established the WINGS Enabling Environment Fund for Philanthropy to protect and promote the enabling environment for philanthropy. The fund, open to WINGS members, supported bold advocacy actions to improve the enabling environment in the Global South and, above all, where philanthropy’s freedom is most at risk. A total of 16 grants were awarded, 11 in the first Call for Proposals and 5 in the second Call for Proposals, for an overall total of EUR 332,325. Seven large grants were allocated, of which 6 were for multi-country initiatives and 9 were medium grants.
