Philanthropy’s support ecosystem, the networks, philanthropy support organisations, research centres and capacity builders that make giving work, is chronically under-resourced. The funders who invest in it shape what philanthropy as a whole is able to do.
WINGS works with those funders. Our partners invest not only in individual programmes or organisations, but also in the infrastructure that helps philanthropy learn, collaborate, unlock resources, and respond more effectively to shared challenges. Through WINGS, those investments strengthen connections across the wider field and amplify the impact of work happening at local, national, and regional levels.
Why invest in WINGS
WINGS believes strong philanthropy needs investment at every level. We encourage funders to invest directly in local, national and regional organisations closest to communities and their contexts. But those organisations also need strong ecosystems around them.
WINGS invests in the connections, knowledge, coordination and collective capacity that allow those ecosystems to thrive. We connect actors across regions, bring their perspectives into global spaces, and create opportunities to learn and act together.

What your

Funding WINGS means funding the ecosystems and relationships that support philanthropy across regions, not one organisation’s outputs.
- Global convening. WINGSForum, regional gatherings and working groups that connect philanthropy support organisations across regions to exchange knowledge and coordinate around shared priorities.
- Research and shared knowledge. Mapping Philanthropy Support Ecosystems, the Enabling Environment Guide, and publications that help philanthropy access shared data, research, and frameworks across regions and contexts.
- Long-term field initiatives. Multi-year initiatives, including the Philanthropy Transformation Initiative, Philanthropy For Climate, the WINGS Ecosystem Builder Awards and the Lift Up Philanthropy Fund.
- Policy engagement. Bringing perspectives from across philanthropy, in all its diversity, into global and regional policy conversations, including the G20, B20, and UN Processes.
- Regional ecosystems. Supporting philanthropy infrastructure efforts in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and other regions through collaboration with regional networks and partners.
