Ensuring philanthropy is collectively represented where global decisions are made
Philanthropy is shaped in rooms most of the ecosystem never enters.
The G20. The United Nations General Assembly. The OECD. COP. These are the spaces where policies are set, resources are directed, and development priorities are defined, often without the perspectives of many philanthropy support organisations, networks, and regional actors represented in the conversation.
WINGS works to change that by amplifying the perspectives and experiences of diverse philanthropy stakeholders in global policy conversations.
Why it matters
Global policy decisions shape the conditions philanthropy operates under: what can be funded, how resources move across borders, how organisations are regulated, and how the social sector is positioned.
Including philanthropy support organisations and regional actors helps ensure that policy decisions are grounded in the realities of how philanthropy operates. Their absence can leave important ecosystem perspectives, local knowledge, and implementation challenges out of the conversation.
How WINGS engages
Bringing diverse perspectives into global policy spaces
Connecting perspectives from across the philanthropy support ecosystem, including regional networks, philanthropy support organisations, and ecosystem builders, into global policy conversations.
Shaping policy discussions
Coordinating network/field consultations, contributing recommendations, participating in task forces, and influencing the agendas that feed into global decision-making processes.

Where we engage
WINGS engages across a range of global and regional policy spaces, including multilateral forums, development platforms, climate convenings, financial regulatory processes, and cross-sector coalitions, helping ensure philanthropy perspectives are reflected in conversations that shape global priorities.
G20
WINGS participates in task forces and discussions that inform recommendations presented to G20 leaders, consistently highlighting the role of strong philanthropy support ecosystems in development and cooperation.
United Nations General Assembly
During UNGA week, WINGS contributes to global dialogues on sustainable development, civic space and philanthropy’s role in the SDGs. Through our consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), WINGS also engages with broader UN processes and helps bring philanthropy perspectives into international policy discussions.
OECD, FATF, and regional policy platforms
We participate in discussions that shape cross-border giving, enabling environments and collaborative philanthropy across regions. This includes engagement with the OECD, collaboration with Philea on Financial Action Task Force (FATF) processes affecting philanthropy and civil society, and contributions to initiatives such as the Global Giving and Social Investing Compact Initiative (GGSCI).
