A New Global Partnership: Eradicate Poverty and Transform Economies Through Sustainable Development
The High Level Panel’s (HLP) report on the Post-2015 Development Agenda calls for “eradication of extreme poverty by 2030 and delivering on sustainable development.” It emphasizes that the new development agenda must be universal and built on broad, inclusive partnership. The report identifies five major transformational shifts: ending extreme poverty while leaving no one behind; centering sustainable development; transforming economies for inclusive growth; building accountable institutions ensuring good governance and peaceful societies; and forging a global partnership based on cooperation, equity and human rights. It proposes twelve illustrative goals with 2030 targets addressing poverty, gender equality, education, health, food security, water and sanitation, energy, employment, natural resources, governance, peace, and finance, with cross-cutting issues including climate change, inequality, and cities.
