Colloquium on philanthropy in Africa
March 22 to 24, 2022 – 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EST
In connection with the global movement for philanthropic renewal, this symposium will focus on the conditions for the development of national philanthropic ecosystems in Africa. It will bring together practitioners and academics to discuss the major issues and emerging practices to facilitate this philanthropic renewal in Africa.
Discussions will generally focus on philanthropy and development in Africa but with particular attention to Francophone Africa where there are emerging initiatives to develop and strengthen philanthropic ecosystems.
The topics covered will be:
§ Day 1: Philanthropy and development in Africa ( March 22, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. from Montreal )
§ Day 2: Importance of local stakeholders ( March 23, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. from Montreal )
§ Day 3: Importance of international stakeholders and national support (March 24, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. from Montreal)
